Eating when you have braces is a practiced skill learned over time. Of course, there are food restrictions so that you cannot damage your braces, and one learns quickly which foods make it more difficult to clean out your mouth afterwards.
This is why we’re doing some articles with recipes that are braces safe! Nothing hard to break your brackets on, and nothing that is so sticky that you will have a hard time brushing your teeth. In this one, we’ve chosen a French Omelet that is a delicious choice for either breakfast, lunch or supper!
INGREDIENTS:
-6 eggs
-½ teaspoon salt
-A dash of pepper
-6 tablespoons milk
-3 tablespoons butter
DIRECTIONS:
Beat eggs until yolks and whites are combined; add seasonings and milk. (Note: Adding the milk is not critical. Some people like that it softens the egg flavor somewhat. If you like the taste of eggs, leave it out.)
Heat butter or drippings in skillet until moderately hot; add beaten eggs. Cook over low heat, lifting the mixture very gently with a spatula as it cooks on the bottom and tipping the skillet so that the uncooked mixture runs under. Do not cut through the mixture, but cook so that it remains in one large cake.
When the bottom is lightly browned and the mixture is firm throughout, fold in half, and serve immediately. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
You can make it a little less plain by chopping up and adding things into the fold like bacon bits, mushrooms, tomatoes, green onions, and grated cheese.
